The New Self-Care

How a leading clinic Elixir Skin Fitness is tackling taboo topics and helping women address their intimate wellness concerns.

Self-care is something we all make time for, but when was the last time you stopped to consider your intimate wellbeing?

Once a taboo topic, South Australian women are now placing heightened importance on their vaginal care – and as revolutionary treatments that help to successfully treat common issues (think dryness, sensitivity and incontinence) become more readily available, down-there-care is something that is now more attainable, and commonplace, than ever before.

To promote intimate wellness, award-winning South Australian clinic, Elixir Skin Fitness, has introduced two new treatments, the Empower RF and O-Shot, to its roster of holistic procedures, both designed to target the feel and functionality of your private parts.

A 2016 government study found that one in three women who’ve given birth report issues with incontinence. The Empower RF tackles this concern head-on, strengthening weakened pelvic floors through a non-invasive treatment that emits bipolar and submucosal frequencies, plus electrical muscle stimulation. This combination of pulses boosts collagen production, increasing elasticity and tissue development – two key components in restoring vaginal strength.

Performed in-office at Elixir, the treatment has little to no downtime and is tailored to you, with treatment time and frequency altered to suit your needs.

Dryness is also something that affects most Australian women, with Healthdirect reporting that more than 50 percent of females moving through menopause experience this problem. Mainly caused by a dip in estrogen production as your hormones shift, dryness not only causes discomfort but also impacts your sexual wellness. Both the Empower RF and the O-Shot help to ease these symptoms.

The O-Shot is a patented treatment that improves lubrication and sensitivity through an increase in Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). This regenerative treatment takes up to 30 minutes and uses plasma isolated from the patient’s blood. The PRP is then injected into different parts of the vagina, improving blood flow and nerve endings, as well as promoting collagen, elastin and blood vessel production. When combined with Empower RF, this treatment increases lubrication plus addresses problems such as incontinence and sexual satisfaction.

Taking a rounded approach to patients’ self-care is what Elixir Skin Fitness and its founder, leading dermal therapist, Rose Bonasera, do best. At Elixir, holistic skin and wellness programs are tailored to your body – a focus that has seen the clinic become a go-to for all areas of self-care.

Let’s Get Intimate

Empowering women to break the silence surrounding intimate health.

Adelaide skin health clinic, Elixir Skin Fitness, will host an exclusive event exploring women’s intimate health next Thursday (October 12).

Elixir Skin Fitness will launch its new Empower RF treatment equipment at the intimate gathering which features a range of guest speakers to raise awareness about topics often taboo in the community.

Empower RF device is a game-changing treatment designed to treat a range of women’s health conditions for women of all ages.

The revolutionary machine is one of two in South Australia designed to alleviate issues such as incontinence and pelvic floor.

Empower RF uses a combination of synergistic energies, including submucosal fractional radiofrequency, intravaginal electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) and bipolar radiofrequency. No general anesthesia or large incisions are needed, and there’s minimal downtime.

Elixir Skin Fitness owner and dermal therapist, Rose Bonasera and her team use Empower RF daily at its Norwood clinic to restore basic function and quality of feminine health and overall aesthetic appearance.

“We can address multiple concerns for women including incontinence, pain with intercourse, chronic infections and vaginal laxity,” says Rose.

Presenting their knowledge on this and other women’s health issues are Dr Aman Bhinder, nutritional medicine practitioner, Chiza Westcarr, and skin expert/founder of Vita-Sol, Fiona Tuck. Adelaide celebrity speaker, Dr Lurve, will also talk love, relationships and the importance of self-care.

“Women’s intimate health and wellness is a part of our brand. We want to help women feel empowered and to break the silence associated with intimate health,” says Rose.
