From the team at Elite Building Design & Construct comes a Moroccan-inspired outdoor sanctuary in far-flung Kangarilla

Specialising in custom, concrete pools, Elite Building Design & Construct are experienced in creating calming outdoor spaces for their clients. This project is based in Kangarilla, anchored around a natural swimming pool, clay tiles and rustic timber, resulting in a grounding oasis befitting its peaceful surrounds.
Tell us a bit about the brief for this project.
The client’s brief was to have a Moroccan-style landscape that ties into the natural surroundings of Kangarilla. We employed eco- friendly building practices, utilising recycled and sustainable materials. That included one completely natural swimming pool from BioTop. It looks like a conventional pool but doesn’t require any chemicals to achieve crystal-clear water. The system relies on its own ecosystem for filtration, offering reduced power consumption when compared to a standard, chlorinated swimming pool.

How long did the process take?
The project took approximately 15 months, owing to the fact that the pool had to be in place during the early stages of the build. We worked alongside the builder throughout the process.
What was the process like?
This project was awesome to be a part of. The clients had such an amazing vision for the space, which made working with them a great experience. Their push for the use of natural materials has given the space a really natural feel with a high-quality finish.

What do you love most about this project?
The freeform pool, the Moroccan rendered walls, the rustic timber decking and handmade clay tiles. All of it has come together beautifully to create a calm, grounding oasis.
