With fresh air, three acres of farmland and endless opportunities for fun, Hahndorf Farm Barn is a family favourite for good reason. Just 35 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD, the award-winning destination is designed for children (and adults!) to connect, learn and interact with animals and native fauna.

Days here are best spent getting up close and personal with some of the cutest creatures. Cuddle rabbits and guinea pigs, help bottle feed baby lambs (and sometimes a cheeky goat or two) or hold baby chicks – there are plenty of chances to meet some furry farm friends.

Hahndorf Farm Barn is structured for children to get to know animals
at their own pace. Kids with more confidence can have a go at hand feeding wildlife in a spacious park that’s home to Phoebe the fawn, emus, ostriches, kangaroos, and two donkeys called Jack and Jenny. You can even share a potato with Hahndorf Farm Barn’s resident 1100kg bull, Ben Hur!

Hahndorf Farm Barn schedules interactive experiences throughout the day for families. Take a seat at the interactive Farm Show, which
runs at 11am and 2:30pm every day, and discover where milk comes from (you can have a crack at milking Daisy the cow!). Following that, check out the tractor ride, which departs from 11:30am onwards, or enjoy a pony ride on Bonnie, the resident Shetland pony, from 11:30am or 1pm. There’s also the chance to get close to some scaly creatures at the 12:30pm Wildlife & Reptile show!

All the fun is sure to work up an appetite. There are sheltered areas throughout the park for you to devour a homemade picnic and community barbecues for hire if a warm meal is more your style. A favourite spot for lunch is by the outdoor playground – it’s the perfect place to watch the kids blow off steam.
