Existing furniture can be given a new lease of life by using a range of different materials to create layers. It’s a simple interior trick, and it not only changes a space up, but it also adds visual interest and warmth.

The experts from OZ Design suggest adding a thick throw blanket and scatter cushions to a sofa or bed or grounding your space using a textural woollen rug.

High pile rugs are ideal for the cooler months and allow your feet to sink into a soft landing. Windows and walls shouldn’t be overlooked either – drape curtains for a soft, angelic look and introduce colour and energy to a room with the addition of a hero artwork.

Complete the space with small touches, like candles and a floor lamp (or opt for a table lamp if you want to cast a soft warm glow), and greenery is a great way to add a pop of colour.
