Since 1851, The Colonist has been a staple in the Adelaide pub scene, known for its eclectic interior and energetic atmosphere. Specialising in small and large modern Australian dishes, the pub also hosts an impressive cocktail, craft beer and wine list.

Upon arrival, high ceilings and elaborate copper roofing catch the eye. Combined with the original pub wallpaper and Gustave Klimt paintings on the walls, the space is warm and welcoming. Order a gin and tonic at the main bar or take advantage of the alfresco dining during the warmer months.

On the weekend, enjoy all-day breakfast. Between the Tasmanian Smoked Salmon Florentine or the Loaded Brekkie, there is something for everyone. Pair with a freshly squeezed OJ or a Bloody Mary cocktail and start the day right! As a dog-friendly venue, weekend brunch at The Colonist is the perfect excuse to get your furry friend out and about.

The current lunch and dinner menus have a seasonal focus. Head Chef, Dean Lennerth focuses on fresh flavours that champion local produce. Enjoy the Salt ‘n’ Peter Squid Salad with crispy noodle slaw or Grilled Local Halloumi with tomato salsa. You’ll still find all your pub favourites, like the 250g Chargrilled Angus Sirloin and the Crispy Chicken Burger with sweet potato wedges, and there’s plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options available too.
As South Australia becomes increasingly renowned for its microbreweries, The Colonist offers an extensive range of South Australian craft beers. Find Mismatch Brewing, Vale Brewing and Lobethal Bierhaus all on the menu. The taps change regularly, so be sure to check ‘The Colonist Real Time Tap List’ available online.

The cocktail and wine list will not disappoint. As the popularity of gin grows, The Colonist offers a broad selection of Australian favourites. The extensive range of cocktails includes a Tropical Gin Spritz and Nosferatu Blood Orange Negroni – every Sunday from 3-5pm, you’ll find these available for just $10. Enjoy a glass from the long list of premium local wines from popular regions such as McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and the Barossa.
The Colonist is open Monday – Friday for lunch and dinner, and Saturday 9am – Late.
