Smile Society Dental opened its doors in 2023, but for founder Dr Delia Yeak, it had been a vision long preceding that. “I wanted to create a practice that felt completely different from the traditional dental experience,” she says, “where patients actually felt cared for, listened to and comfortable from the moment they walked through the door.”
The experience that awaits at Smile Society could easily be confused for a day spa. Cosy blankets, dimmed lights and calm, understanding practitioners are a far cry from the glary surgery rooms and sweaty palms that, for so many of us, often accompany a trip to the dentist. “We want people to feel relaxed rather than rushed,” says Delia. “When you’re in the chair, our attention is completely on you,” Delia explains. The patient dictates the pace: questions are encouraged, and nothing takes place without mutual understanding and readiness. “We never rush into treatment,” Delia says. “Before we even look at someone’s teeth, we take the time to understand their previous experiences, what they’re worried about and what would help them feel comfortable.”
The clinic is a response to the realities of modern life: the 9-to-5 grind, busy home lives and unexpected knocks to teeth that happen on a Sunday afternoon. With that in mind, Smile Society offers speedy waiting times, out-of-hours appointments and transparent, flexible payment plans.
