Take on the town with a musical experience from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Sofitel Adelaide

Scores of fun
This July, A Night at the Ballet promises a spectacular outing at The Festival Theatre that belies its name. No actual dancing will take place: for this sensational evening, the music itself will be centre stage.
Jonathan Lo, Music Director at The Australian Ballet, will lead the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra is some of the most treasured ballet scores ever composed. The night will begin on New York’s bustling streets with Bernstein’s energetic On the Town, before an immersion in Prokofiev’s passionately affecting Romeo and Juliet, with a final whisk away to the wonder and delight of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.
For lovers of classical music, ballet score devotees or anyone who enjoys an excuse to dress up and visit the theatre, A Night at the Ballet will delight audiences. Orchestral prowess and compositional masterpieces are set to raise the orchestra out of the pit to become the star of the show.

Making an evening of it
The phrase, “We’re going out,” may no longer inspire the glamour it once did. A mad dash to the top drawer of your dressing table for evening gloves has slowly evolved into comparing which bar has the highest star rating.
However, the evening out is not lost. From enjoying a leisurely pre-show dinner to savouring post-show drinks, there are still plenty of ways—and excuses—to dress up, take on the town and treat yourself to Adelaide’s vibrant arts scene.
To that aim, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra has teamed up with Sofitel Adelaide to provide the Complete Night Out: a full evening experience to provide the sugar plum icing on A Night at the Ballet, exclusively available on Saturday the 25thof July.
The night begins before the show, at Sofitel Adelaide. A warm welcome includes canapés and an indulgent two-hour drinks package. Guests can enjoy an intimate, pre-performance conversation with Jonathan Lo himself, and the ASO’s Principal Cello Sharon Grigoryan.
From there, it’s a 15-minute stroll to the Festival Theatre, with the lights of Adelaide illuminating your path. A Night at the Ballet awaits; an orchestral celebration of ballet scores from composers at their artistic zenith, performed live by the ASO.
This evening invites you to linger. The return of the night out is here, but this one demands no planning or haste. With a Complete Night Out, every detail has been taken care of.
