From dim nooks to sun-drenched spaces, foliage injects personality into your home. Norwood Garden Centre reveals how…

Low light
Plenty of plants tolerate low light, including all variants of devil’s ivy. Loved for its cascading vines, the house plant thrives in shady, humid spaces (like your bathroom!). Snake plants – which can grow over a metre tall – are excellent options to liven dim corners, while heartleaf philodendrons look brilliant in hanging baskets or on a top shelf.
Medium light
With medium light plants, find a spot where the sun won’t burn its leaves. East or west-facing windows are best at this – the diffused, soft light will help them thrive without too much overexposure. Right now, we’re loving peace lilies, stripy prayer plants and the saturated shades of a flamingo flower, all of which add character to any living environment!
Bright light
Spaces near north-facing windows come to life with the addition of fiddle leaf figs or bird of paradise plants, both which flourish with six hours of daily, indirect sunlight. However, there are plenty of apartment friendly options for bright light conditions. Experiment with planters of pilea peperomioides, English ivy or even succulents (think jade plants or pigmyweed) in small, sun-drenched locations.
