With over 26 years of experience in cosmetic medicine and surgery,
Dr Hadges is known for his conservative approach – tailoring each treatment to a patient’s individual needs, expectations and history.
What inspired your passion for cosmetic treatments?
My passion in cosmetic medicine is an extension of my passion for caring for people in general. Helping people look and feel their best can empower individuals and improve their general outlook on life. Continuing to practice both general medicine and cosmetic medicine allows me to stay informed about the limitations and potential risks of the treatments I provide.
What are some of the therapies and treatments you offer?
The bread-and-butter of most cosmetic practices are of course the anti-wrinkle injections and fillers. In addition to these treatments, I also offer collagen stimulator injections and thread lifting procedures for sagging skin, which I’ve been working with for the last 20 years. We also have some of the latest technology available for thread lift procedures.
How do you determine a patient’s suitability for a treatment?
Major factors in treatment selection include the patient’s openness, readiness and realistic expectations. I conduct a thorough medical history and examination to assess whether a treatment is appropriate for a patient’s concerns and is safe. A psychological screening tool is also used to determine if a patient has realistic expectations. Additionally, clinical impressions, along with before-and-after photography, play a critical role in treatment selection and monitoring progress.
What specific considerations are made when administering cosmetic treatments to your patients?
We take an in-depth medical history including an understanding of any prescription medication or supplements, allergies, previous cosmetic treatments, any other surgical or medical procedures they’ve had, their sun exposure history, lifestyle factors, family history and past medical history. It’s also important to understand the patient’s occupation and daily habits, such as their skincare regime.
What should patients look for when choosing a professional to administer cosmetic treatments?
With the possibility of complications post cosmetic treatments, it’s important to look for a medically trained practitioner with relevant qualifications. Cosmetic treatments should be performed in a professional medical practice equipped with facilities to manage any unforeseen complications and provide post-treatment care.
You’re about to launch your own skincare range – tell us about that.
We have been eagerly developing our own cosmeceutical grade skincare range, launching next year. Skincare is one of the most important pillars to prevent skin damage, adapt to skin changes and to maintain cosmetic treatments. Our selection of high-grade ingredients means more effective skincare management that can be tailored to each of our patients.
