Cheers to 10 Years

Home to one of the most iconic views over the city skyline, 2KW Bar & Restaurant celebrated 10 years of renowned hospitality in November. There are countless reasons why the CBD venue remains a cut above the rest, from being the first (and only) rooftop bar open atop a state heritage building to finding innovative ways to incorporate state-grown producers and native ingredients throughout its menus.

Case in point, executive chef Sam Christopher’s new summer menu showcases the best of SA. Boston Bay mussel escabeche with Davidson plum, Nomad Farms chicken with pickled walnut jus gras and Spencer Gulf kingfish with blood orange are just some courses that pay homage to the honest ingredients found in our state.

Head sommelier, Daniel McEvoy, shares the same ethos when curating 2KW’s award-winning wine list – you can expect South Australian labels to stand proud next to international favourites in the bar’s 1000-bottle cellar.

Regional Excellence

It’s no secret that the Fleurieu Peninsula is home to some of the nation’s most spectacular destinations – spotless sandy beaches, rolling vineyards and now, the best regional hotel in Australia.

The McLaren Vale Hotel swept up at AHA’s 2024 Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence in November, taking home two prestigious national titles for Best Overall Regional Hotel and Best Regional Bar Presentation and Experience. The Australia-wide recognition comes as the venue celebrates its continued evolution in 2024, which this year included unveiling a $2 million refurbishment.

Today, McLaren Vale Hotel – which was originally established in 1857 – is a marriage of heritage charm and contemporary excellence, with the venue now sporting an impressive 20-metre marble bar top and alfresco deck that overlooks neighbouring winery, Tintara.
