What To Wear: Adelaide Motorsport Festival

Fast cars and luxury vehicles are not the only things in the spotlight at this year’s Adelaide Motorsport Festival. Fashion is set to take centre stage, with 2024’s biggest trends reimagined for the grid. Here are just some of the styles you can expect to see on March 16 and 17.

Off Duty Office

Classic, straight leg, high-waisted pants are a go-to for an event like the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, creating a silhouette that’s universally flattering and taps into this year’s subtle luxe trend. Pair with a waistcoat, halter top or a bright scalloped number to take this look from the boardroom to the track.

Other office staples – think blazers and blouses – are also great choices (there’s a reason you see them worn time and time again at European motorsport races). For the March festivities, pair your favourite maxi slip dress or a long asymmetrical skirt and crepe tee with a blazer, making sure to scrunch it slightly at the elbows. Style with some slingback heels, oversized sunnies and a slicked bun and you’ll nail this vibe.  None of these quite ticking the box? When in doubt, reach for a dress that cinches at the waist. Check out Aje’s Lyric Belted Dress (available in both midi and mini cuts) if considering this style – or create the same look by pairing a matching patterned skirt and shirt, (tucked in to give that ‘cinch’ effect). You can add a belt too, for an extra element.

Primary Colours

Punchy primary colours are so much fun to experiment with when it comes to fashion. And while red is the colour of the moment, its bold-shaded siblings deserve equal attention as the warmer season comes to a close. This Adelaide Motorsport Festival, try spicing up a neutral outfit with pops of these vibrant hues. Accessories are your biggest arsenal with clutches, heels, sunglasses and jewellery an easy way to weave in colour (check out local leather maker Stuff By Glad for the cutest coloured bags).

However, equal attention should be given to how you can use primaries in your outfit, too. Colour blocking or a monochromatic look is a fail-safe way to work this trend, and we’re currently loving Acler’s Kirtling Shirt paired with the Briar Skirt. If you’re new to the trend, experiment with colour on either just the top or bottom. And don’t forget to play with the saturation – these shades don’t need to be turned up to 100.
