Grenache Fest: Adelaide Wine Markets | September 10


The Adelaide Wine Markets are back – and this time, it’s Grenache getting its moment in the spotlight. Taking over the Market Shed on Holland, more than 25 boutique SA winemakers will be popping up at the wine-fuelled evening. Try tipples of Grenache and other wine varieties from the likes of Purple Hands Wines, Thistledown and Dandelion Vineyards, listen to live acoustic music or graze on gourmet food. Tickets ($39) include a take-home tasting glass and access to wine flights. Driving? Purchase a $10 designated driver ticket and join the fun.
The Royal Adelaide Show | Until September 11

The Royal Adelaide Show is back, returning to the Showgrounds with a jam-packed program perfect for the entire family. Celebrate the best of the rural industries with cattle shows and farm experiences, taste artisan produce or feel the thrill on the sky-high rollercoasters and rides. At night, ride the Ferris Wheel, watch the monster trucks and catch the RAA firework show. It’s the last weekend to embrace the Royal Show fun – and after a two-year hiatus, it’s a celebration well-deserved.
Sunshine Super Girl | Until September 17

Underpinned by the cultural politics of the time, see Evonne receive her first tennis racket, win Wimbledon and find love in the heartwarming yet poignant play. Sunshine Super Girl is showing in the Dunstan Playhouse at the Adelaide Festival Centre until September 17.
Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition | All of September


While the Vatican City is many miles away, a slice of the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo’s famed work has found its way to Adelaide, with a unique pop-up art exhibition taking place in Rundle Place. The replica life-size artwork allows you to see the renaissance painting away from the crowds, get close to Michelangelo’s renowned detailed design, and take photos of the artwork – which is banned in the Sistine Chapel. Experience the best of the Adelaide Hills with the month-long festival, Hahndorf Handmade Handcrafted, taking place in the heart of the historic village. Over 300 artisan events and experiences will take place in September along Hahndorf’s Main Street and its surrounds, including cocktail masterclasses, wine blending experiences and DIY apple strudel lessons. This weekend, learn how to create your own Coco Marie clay mask or make homemade gnocchi in a cooking class with new Italian restaurant II Mulino. Plenty of fun for the entire family!
