A Luxe CBD Experience

The historic building and luxe furnishings might have you thinking you’re in a boutique European hotel, but The Mayfair is quintessentially Adelaide.

This five-star venue is situated in the heart of the city, across the road from Rundle Mall’s Beehive Corner, in a building with 87 years of local history. In fact, the hotel’s historic stone frontage and decorative façade have been a focal point of Adelaide’s CBD since 1934.

This year, the Mayfair has welcomed Adelaide boy Scott Eger as General Manager. Scott’s 20-year career has been spent at acclaimed five-star hotels both in Australia and internationally, and he is proud to be taking the reins at the much-loved Mayfair Hotel.

“I’m thrilled to be back home in Adelaide, a city known for world-class experiences,” says Scott. “At the Mayfair, our aim is to deliver a truly exceptional guest experience, through warm and thoughtful service that embodies the meaning of luxury.”

Scott’s impressive career history is vast – with the last 20 years spent island-hopping around the Whitsundays, before heading to Sydney where he was appointed to the executive team of the Sofitel Sydney.

His plans for Adelaide’s Mayfair include a continuation of the hotel’s regionally focused offerings, including the world-class food and beverage menu.

“We’re proud to have the wonderful Erwin Joven as our Executive Chef,” continues Scott. “Erwin’s focus is on top-quality South Australian produce, like premium local seafood, grass-fed SA beef, and Adelaide Hills cheese and charcuterie selections.”

Thoughtfully crafted, Erwin’s spring menu features a selection of dishes that celebrate craftsmanship and history, such as grilled South Australian lobster with sea urchin butter and salted egg yolk.

“The Mayflower Restaurant and the Hennessey Bar continue to lead the culinary and bar scene in Adelaide, with an experience that is uniquely Mayfair,” says Erwin, “and provenance, quality and guest experience are central to the direction and formation of the menus.”

Rounding out the team is Food and Beverage Manager Cami Hetmer and Director of Sales and Marketing Jared Green.

The Mayfair’s unmatched location, luxurious and classic fit-out that pays tribute to the building’s history, and fine food menu continue to hit the mark for locals and visitors looking for that ‘extra’ something.

It has earned its reputation as one of the city’s most revered hotels and, under the direction of such an experienced team, promises to further elevate the local culinary scene. Watch this space.
