Is dry, flaky skin getting in the way of that glow you’re chasing? Here are six moisture-injecting tips from the team at Adelaide Laser Skincare.
Avoid harsh exfoliants
Rather than using a harsh exfoliant to sloth away deep skin cells use cleansers containing AHA’s (alpha hydroxy/glycolic acid) and BHA’s (beta hydroxy/salicylic acid). Glycolic acid will get rid of dead skin cells, while salicylic acid will purge out the pores and keep your skin clear of bacteria.
fRAGRANCE-FREE AND NON-FOAMING
Cream-based cleansers are a good choice if you’re battling dryness, although foaming cleansers are not as severe as you might think. It is important, however, that you choose one that is right for your skin type, ensuring it balances the pH levels of your skin to avoid stripping, which will make your skin even more sensitive and reactive. Fragrant cleansers may irritate the skin and cause dry patches, itchiness and breakouts.
ADD HYALURONIC ACID
Highly concentrated hyaluronic acid immediately plumps and increases moisture for all skin types. It’s a moisture magnet that leaves the skin visibly smoother and plumper with more resilience. Popular hydrating treatments include our LPG Endermologie Facial, LED light therapy, sonophoresis and our HydraFacial.
introduce a facial oil
Bring back radiance to dull, tired looking skin with our Image Skincare Vital C Hydrating Facial Oil – it’s an ultra-lightweight oil that hydrates, nourishes and soothes dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin. Packed full of moringa, sea buckthorn and grape seed oil, as well as stabilised antioxidants to brighten and help rejuvenate ageing skin, it is just the pick-me-up that your skin needs.
Moisturising is a must – morning and night. Our skin is the largest organ in our body and just like your internal organs need feeding, so too does your skin. Our hero moisturiser is the Environ Skin Essenstia Vita-Antioxidant AVST Moisturisers 1-5. These ingenious moisturising creams contain a selection of vitamins, peptides, botanical extracts and antioxidants, all expertly selected to assist in moisturising, softening and smoothing the skin while helping to promote a natural, fresh radiance. It is a step-up system and contains a low concentration of vitamin A in the form of retinyl palmitate, as well as vitamin C.
